Impetus to Invent

The customer had a requirement for a small tabletop press that would ensure parts were present before testing. Additionally, they did not want to have a door come down to create a safe press condition but still wanted it to be safe for the operator. Invent Automation rose to the challenge and created a unique press that met all the customer's goals.

The operator loads the two inserts and tube. A clamp activates but under very low pressure, so it does not create a pinch point when closing. Only after the operator presses the two-hand finger touch is the air pressure raised to pressing pressures, and the side insert presses are activated under the coverage of the top clamp. In this way, at no point is there a pinch point for the operator. Thinking like this is what makes Invent Automation truly unique

What Was Unique

The safety system we invented here allowed us to get away from cumbersome doors and allowed the operator a very clear zone to insert some very small parts.

What Was Challenging

Properly supporting two small parts the size of a BB pellet and inserting them into a flexible tube was a challenge to get right.
